Since 2001 we have been working systematically with information security, aiming for a complete security environment including business, academic and governmental activities.

The Security Valley cluster comprises more than 40 companies, Norways only dedicated information security education (bachelor,master and Ph.D), a national security incubator and research facilities with more than 10 nations represented.

 

Situated just north of the capitol Oslo we are a cluster with focus on 3 areas within information security

Simulation, modelling, prevention and traning

In all three areas we have a strong foundation in education and research as well as awareness issues.

 

The partners and members in the cluster are involved in a number of national and international projects of vital interrest to the society. Projects are reaching from biometric research and products, UAV systems, tracking systems for objects and people, Managed Security Services, IDS solutions, smartcards, certifications, EU research cooperation, to awareness campaigns and training solutions and many more.

 

Norway and the Security Valley cluster is an excellent stepping stone into Europes many opportunities within information security. Security Valley do have in depth knowledge in market conditions and regulations and can be of assistance to find new partners for development, distribution and sales, research or to establish your new office.

Background

In Norway, as in many other countries, there is an increasing problem related to identity theft both from citizens and businesses.

In long term the consumers may lose their confidence in relation to governmental systems for protection of personal information. Daily the media brings forward stories related to new incidents regarding theft of private information from both citizens and companies. There are also a lot of examples where private information is unintentionally presented public due to lack of security measures, routines and rules.

 

“Identity theft” is broadly defined as the unauthorized collection, possession, transfer, replication or other manipulation of another person’s personal information for the purpose of committing fraud or other crimes that involve the use of a false identity. Aided by the increase in digitization and online use of information, identity theft is rapidly becoming a major worldwide problem for companies, governments, and citizens.
